Owl Teh Tarik

I am addicted to milk tea and usually need to have a cup everyday. Ever since CB started, I seldom drink coffee shop milk tea and turn to those 3-in-1 type. I bought Owl brand Teh Tarik at $3.95. It has 20 sticks per pack. Price is reasonable. About 20 cents per cup. But is it good? The taste is actually very blend. It is like diluted teh tarik which is not my cup of tea. The good side is the calories is low. Only 77kcal per stick.

Very blend.

618 sale

Today is 618 sale. This sale date actually started from China online retailers JD.com. They are founded on this date. But now many just leverage on this date for sale. Lazada and Shopee have launched sales and vouchers. Is the sale good? I would say not really. Most of the things I am tracking did not really have huge discounts from normal timing. Plus this time round the vouchers are really limited. Not really that great. I think sometimes during normal time, the sales for some items might be even greater. Like last month, Under Amour at Lazada has 50% on top of everything on sale price. They even throw in free gift and with Lazada vouchers, it is really a steal! So skip 618 if you not urgent.

Thai drama – My Ambulance

Singapore has been showing Thai drama lately. Just ended last weekend is My Ambulance. I have been following and find it pretty good. The story is pretty interesting and it is shot like a bit Korean style. The leads look good and so is their acting. The theme song is nice too. The story talks about the lead actress has some sort of magic connection with her doctor boyfriend who he can travel through dimension to reach her whenever she calls for his help. But one day due to some incident, she fell in love with a young doctor and he has the same magic. So end up who will she be with? Forget about the Singapore version. Cos many parts are censored to keep the story short to fit into the time slot. So certain story line jump here and there. You might end up very blur. I watched the Thai version and the story is more complete. But funny is certain few seconds scenes are in Singapore version and not in Thai version. So if you are those perfectionist, maybe you need to watch both version.

Joo Chiat Kim Choo 如切金珠

Dragon boat festival 端午节 is on 25 June this year. You will see many places start selling rice dumpling. I usually eat whatever dumpling my mum threw at me. Just two days ago, I was in NTUC xtra and saw they selling Joo Chiat Kim Choo rice dumpling. You might know this brand as they sell in many places. This rice dumpling is considered well known ba since they did a lot of advertising. So I decided to buy and try. There are many types and flavours. Their signature is salted dumpling that is $5.2 per piece. They also have the egg yolk version at $6. So is it good? The glutinous rice is chewy and the meat filing is soft. Answer is not bad. But I feel $5.20 for a rice dumpling is really too high. It is not really out of this world taste and I feel is about the same as those cheaper version. Disclaimer here is I am not gourmet mouth. I am just a normal mass market fellow taste bud. Also dun bother about the egg yolk version. It is the same with just a small salted egg inside.

Signature flavour
looks tasty

Fairprice potato chips

Supermarket usually has many in-house brands to keep the price low. They might launched in-house rice, meat, milk etc.. NTUC has launched its Fareprice potato chips. I bought and tried as it is pretty cheap. $1.15 for 75g. There are many flavours to choose from and I have to recommend the hot and spicy flavour. It is really good. The spiciness and crispiness are great! So dun shunt in-house brand cos it can be as good as branded without a premium price.

Chateraise double fantasy puff

After eating the strawberry cake from Chateraise, I decided to try out their another best seller product – double fantasy. It is an oversize cream puff. There are many flavours to choose from. Got original, matcha, caramel to name a few. I bought caramel. It costs $1.90 which I think the price is OK. The texture of the puff is soft and easy on the teeth. The caramel and fresh cream is not salty. It will also not give you a greasy feeling. Overall is good. But one thing is the cream might flow out easily if you are not careful and will create a mess. So eat with care.

They even give a small cooling pack
Cream oozing out. Eat with care.

Chateraise strawberry cake

I bought a cake lately to celebrate my mum’s birthday. After looking around, I decided on Chateraise which is a Japanese brand. Seriously, I dunno how to pronounce the name. Anyway, their strawberry cake seems to be one of the best sellers. It is pretty creamy and not very sweet which I like. The texture is soft and melt in your mouth. Just that the asking price is slightly high. $20 for around 250g of cake. There are many outlets in Singapore. So it should not be too difficult to get that cake.

Hong Kong Street Zhen Ji 香港街珍記

This is a nice zichar store located in a coffee shop in Alexandra. The food is good and price is reasonable. During normal times, it is pretty crowded and parking is pretty challenging though there is a bigger open carpark that needs a bit of walking.

Ee Mee
Fish soup

I bought fish soup large and Ee Mee large portion that is good for 4 pax for $25. The fish soup is sweet and not too salty. The Ee Mee texture is smooth and not rubbery. It is also not very salty which is great. The address is 125 Bukit Merah Lane 1, Singapore 150121.

Visit Selatar Mall during circuit breaker

Now going to shopping mall during CB period is a pain. Reason is that they will close a lot of entrance and force you to go through dedicated one due to lack of manpower for checking. I just went to Seletar Mall and is the arrangement good? I park at B3 carpark today at around 2pm and there are many lots. So far OK. But from there, you are forced to take the lift as the travelator only goes down direction. There is no information saying it only goes down. So end up you waste time looking. So if you are going up, there is no way but take the lift. I also cannot find any information on stairs. And imagine, in order to hold social distancing, each lift can maybe hold the most 6 pax, so if during peak hours, you really can slowly wait. I also imagine it will be chaotic. Overall, not really ideal.
